God will provide

Most times it looks like fable when we are confronted with urgent needs and the Lord whispers His promise of provision to us. It is common ground that many minds would keep wondering how and through whom such provisions would come. Another problem may even be what the need of the moment is. Sometimes it may not even be money! Our needs vary and God has promised to provide all of them: – Hallelujah.

In Philippians 4:19 (ESV) the Bible says “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus”. God’s provision cuts across every need of life: financial need which is always overwhelming, the need for companionship Gen.2:19-22 (TLB) for career building, for spiritual growth, food, shelter etc.

The classic example of God’s provision is demonstrated by the faith of Abraham, our father in the faith. I always imagine how Abraham left home believing that he would go and worship God with his son Isaac and come back! Hear him, our father Abraham, the father of faith in Gen 22:4-5(NLT). “On the third day of their journey, Abraham looked up and saw the place in a distance ‘stay here with the donkey’, Abraham told the servants ’The boy and I will travel a little farther. We will worship there and then we will come right back.’” What a great faith!

Abraham did not waver in faith! Romans 4:20-24(NLT) says: Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises. And because of Abraham’s faith, God counted him as righteous. And when God counted him as righteous, it wasn’t just for Abraham’s benefit. It was recorded for our benefit.

How many times are we confronted with the issues of need and we begin to calculate and strategise things for ourselves instead of waiting completely on the Lord? May we receive the grace to believe in the Lord for His provisions.

God is never too late and never too early. He is always on time.

On the mountain of the Lord, it shall be given. At the heights of need. When you think all hope is gone. The Lord will appear and cause you to see the ram caught by its horns in the thicket. It is in the thicket that God’s provision will be tangled! Right in the heart of the precarious situation, God will appear! May the Lord open our eyes to always see His provision in our time of need. Amen.
